Mason Lefler

As Associate Vice President for Educational Innovation at Bridgerland Technical College, Dr. Mason Lefler leads both the Instructional Systems & Design and Development departments. In his role with the Development department, Dr. Lefler has served as Principal Investigator on several NSF Advanced Technological Education (ATE) grants and oversees a variety of other Career and Technical Education (CTE) grant projects. He holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Brigham Young University, a master’s degree in Secondary Education from Arizona State University, a master’s degree in Instructional Leadership from Utah State University, and a doctorate in Instructional Technology and Learning Sciences from Utah State University. He began his career in education as a middle school teacher, where he was an early pioneer of flipped-classroom models using technology.

As a researcher, Dr. Lefler has published academic work in the areas of problem-based learning, computer-based scaffolding, and learning analytics. His leadership and educational work consistently intersects curriculum design, instructional technology, CTE, data-driven decision making, and work-based learning. Bridgerland joined EDC in 2019 as a mentee institution for the Mentoring to Support Designing and Launching of New Data Science Career Pathways at Community Colleges (NSF 1902568).
