Michael D. Harris is an Associate Professor in the Computer Information Technology Department at Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) in Boston. As a tenured faculty member, Harris began teaching at BHCC as an adjunct in 2008 and has been teaching full time since 2014. Harris’s partnership with EDC began in 2019 with Creating Pathways for Big Data Careers (NSF 1501927), through which Harris created the first data analytics curriculum at the community college level in the state of Massachusetts. Harris returned as a Co-PI for EDC’s Mentoring to Support Designing and Launching of New Data Science Career Pathways at Community Colleges (NSF 1902568), in which he provided support to Bridgerland Techincal College’s Data Analytics Program as well as supporting a broader community of practice for data science faculty at two-year colleges. Prior to joining Bunker Hill, Harris spent more than a decade in the defense and aerospace industries. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from UMass Lowell and a Master of Business Administration from UMass Boston.
