An EDC article featuring work by AI in CC principal investigator Joyce Malyn-Smith explores the emerging “AI-Enhanced Software Developer” role—one defined through EDC’s collaboration with Google and expert developers across industry. Together, they mapped the AI skills and knowledge software engineers need today, identified more than 75 AI-supported tasks, and produced a 50-page occupational profile detailing how developers and AI systems interact to drive problem solving, design, and delivery.
